The PSL title chase went down to the wire last night where Kaizer Chiefs was playing Mamelodi Sundowns (Absa Stadium) and Orlando Pirates was battling the log leaders Supersport United (Loftus Stadium).

mamelodi Sundowns care-taker coach Ted Dimitru was hoping for the first win after six games without collecting muximum points. The Brazillians showed their intention in the early stages of the game but they couldn't convert their chances into goals. They had three clear chances but they couldn't convert them.

On the 39 minutes Abia Nale put Chiefs ahead of Sundowns with beatiful goal after good passing game between Simphiwe Tshabalala and david Mathebula.

On the game that took place last night Pirates failed to defend the Dikgang mabalane's 75 minutes goal. The Orlando Pirates captain Lehlohonolo Seema failed to clear the simple ball and gave Anton Laffor to equalize in 78 minutes. This draw gave Supersport the six points lead and Pirates desperately needed to win this game to a chance of claiming the ABSA Premiership honours by the end of the season.

Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs will play on another six pointer next week where both team will show whether they want to win th eleague or not. This game is taking place on the 2 May 2009 at Coca-cola Park.

The Freedom Day gave you freedom.

This year's elections are being regarded as the most important elections in the country after 1994. This was proven by the number of people turnout in all voting stations around the country especially youth. Its look like young people wants to be part of changes that will take place after the new president sworn in.
It has been a long journey for political parties who started campaigning late last year. April 22 was the due-date, but the question still remains: did they do enough to convince the people especially the first time voters? Did the opposition parties gave the voters the alternatives parties to vote for?
Judging from the results that are coming out through-out the country, it look like the opposition parties failed to give voters options. Currently the African National Congress (ANC) is leading almost eight provinces excluding the Western Cape which is dominated by the Democratic Alliance (DA). Maybe the opposition parties focused too much on the ANC instead of convincing the people during campaigns. Everything they did was to criticised the ruling party and its policies that some people think are good because even those opposition political parties did not come with something new.
The problems that we have as country haven't change and you can tell that by looking at all parties manifesto's. The only thing that the opposition parties failed to do was to stress the point of fast service delivery to the people which is something that ANC failed to do in the past 15 years.

Bring it on, we are ready.

Even though Durban won't be taking part in hosting the Confederation Cup in June but the people of Durban have a lot of activities to keep them busy this winter.
Besides the Ausies-Proteas series that will be closing tomorrow afternoon in Johannesburg, a lot is ablout to happened in Kingsmead Cricket Stadium. The Indian premier League and Comrades Marathon will be lining up to keep the Durbanites busy in this winter.
The IPL will start on Saturday the 18 April 2009 where Indians cricket teams will be battling for the top spot. To make this more interesting is that some of our local based players will be participating in this tournament.
Unfortunately Durban won't be able to host the semifinals of these games because the Kingsmead stadium will be also used for Comrades Marathon. Due to Confederation Cup in June Comrades Marathon was moved to 24 May 2009.
Soon after those decisions were made, the ICC decided to give South Africa the rights to host the IPL due to security reasons in India. This led to date clashes between the tournament and Comrades marathon for that reason the semifinals were moved to other cities.
Being granted this opportunity to host this event is the proof that we are ready to host international events. We did with Rugby World Cup, Cricket World Cup and African Cup Of Nations to name the few. So its up to us now as South Africans to make this as successful as it can.
Bring it on, we are ready as a city of Durban and as a counrty as whole to host both Confederation and the Soccer World Cup.
This will also cut our business sector a bigger slice of cake because with Comrades, IPL and Soccer World Cup we will make a lot of money. And if we can make sure that all these events become successful we will be putting ourself in good position to host the next Olympic Games.

What does the elections means to us as South Africans?

The South Africans living abroad are voting today, but some people in this very country will not vote, then you ask yourself why?
The South Africans abroad fought for this priviledge opportunity of being part of the biggest change or decision making process. I asked few students around campus about the question above. What i find was different opinions and views about the elections.
Some students said they will not vote because they feel like they are not represented in South African politics. They even mention the fact that the Youth Leagues in this country does not represent them but those people in power and to make money out of them.
Some they are very happy to vote for the first time in thier lives and some it will be their second time. To those who will vote it means they be exercising their freedom to choose and voting itself is a sign of freedom on its own. They say voting allow you to decide who will be your president and you automatically become the part of decision makers in Parliament because the Party that you choose represent your views.
So why don't we go out there and vote!!

Why do we (youth) have to vote?

Its so sad to hear that some of us (youth) will not vote in the upcoming elections. This is our right and time to make a difference in our lives and even in the communities that we live in.

Look at the youth of 1976, they had one goal that was to change the situation back then around. And gues what they did it because they were working together. So what is stopping us to work together? Some people say the struggle is over so we don't need to united as they were. I totally don't think so because I truelly believe that we are fighting the different struggle today.

If you can try to look at it this way, the youth of 1976 were fighting for the usage of Afrikans in blacks schools, we have to fight the usage of drugs and violence in our schools. They had to wore balaclavas to protect themselves from teargas, we have to wear condoms to protect ourselves from HIV/AIDS so how can you say the struggle is over if have a lot similar problems from them.

Its start now remember what Ghandi said you have to be change that you want to see in the world. Gone are those days of sitting in a corner waiting and hoping that something will happened. We have to go out there and things hapened for and stop omplaining.

They say we are the leaders of tomorrow but all that start now.

At last the SRC visited DUT City Campus.

The Durban University Of Technology City Campus was visited by the Students Representatives Council yesterday. This comes after a lot of complains from the City Campus students saying that the SRC only visit them when they wants their votes.

The Sasco member Mr Philani Mlambo (JZ) told the students that SASCO will never leave out the City Campus students because they are part of DUT. He also said that they had had hard times because of changes that were happening within the organisation, so they will make sure that the students get that attention they deserve.JZ also argue the City Campus students to participate to all SRC activities because if they dont it will be difficult get the information across.

The City Campus students complain about being the last campus to recieve the information about any event that is taking in the university. Some students mentioned that if they can have the information centre in this campus their life will be very easy.

The SRC promised the students that they will be opening an office in city campus to make things easier for them to access information and also to forward their complains to their representatives.

Many complains from students were about poor services from their respective departments. Issues such as the Lab closing early, computers being physically present but not systematically and the issue of residential for students. Mr Mlambo promised the students that all their problems will be sorted out very soon and he also argued the students to go and excercise their right and vote on the 22 April.
