Bring it on, we are ready.

Even though Durban won't be taking part in hosting the Confederation Cup in June but the people of Durban have a lot of activities to keep them busy this winter.
Besides the Ausies-Proteas series that will be closing tomorrow afternoon in Johannesburg, a lot is ablout to happened in Kingsmead Cricket Stadium. The Indian premier League and Comrades Marathon will be lining up to keep the Durbanites busy in this winter.
The IPL will start on Saturday the 18 April 2009 where Indians cricket teams will be battling for the top spot. To make this more interesting is that some of our local based players will be participating in this tournament.
Unfortunately Durban won't be able to host the semifinals of these games because the Kingsmead stadium will be also used for Comrades Marathon. Due to Confederation Cup in June Comrades Marathon was moved to 24 May 2009.
Soon after those decisions were made, the ICC decided to give South Africa the rights to host the IPL due to security reasons in India. This led to date clashes between the tournament and Comrades marathon for that reason the semifinals were moved to other cities.
Being granted this opportunity to host this event is the proof that we are ready to host international events. We did with Rugby World Cup, Cricket World Cup and African Cup Of Nations to name the few. So its up to us now as South Africans to make this as successful as it can.
Bring it on, we are ready as a city of Durban and as a counrty as whole to host both Confederation and the Soccer World Cup.
This will also cut our business sector a bigger slice of cake because with Comrades, IPL and Soccer World Cup we will make a lot of money. And if we can make sure that all these events become successful we will be putting ourself in good position to host the next Olympic Games.
